G.S.P
Gentleman. Soldier. Player.
By: Roscoe Douglas
You know, thru out my life, I never understood what it meant to be an African American for a long ass time. And trust me right now, I still dont know. My family and friends who are of my kind keep telling me what it means to be an African male in this day and age. Its really dumb when I think about it. I mean, most of the time all I see is my kind killing each other, drinking like theres no tomorrow, doing some kind of drug, or fucking up something. Its all just stupid. But you know something, theres a few black men who know how to play the game and know how to be real black men. Not just in the eyes of the opposite sex, but in the eyes of all who come in our way. Its time for the whole world to see what the fuck we got. So all you guys out there with my kind of skin, and those who want to learn something. Check this!
The Gentleman
Now, not all black men are a bunch of jerks or assholes as ladies call us. In fact, the average black male is a smart-ass bastard; hes just too dumb to even waste his time thinking before he talks. Us black men fall under three easy groups. Were either one or the other or all three if youre lucky. First off, lets start off what I am. The gentleman.
Were not that hard to spot at times. Its not fancy clothes or how much money you make that makes ya a real guy. Its all about style, what you know, and how you use it.
First, off, no lady wants to be treated like garbage or like shes a slut. That is the first and most important rule about being an African gentleman. You show your lady respect 24/7. No matter what you show her that she is your one and only. You do your best to treat her like a fucking queen. But just dont go overboard. Theres a couple of golddiggers out there that will take advantage of a guy like this. You make sure you dont cheat on her either. Thats the ultimate insult to a woman. And trust me, if shes black or one of those ladies that talk to her girls, she will ruin your ass so much it aint funny. And this rule doesnt just fall to me as a straight man. Its goes to all you boys who go for the other side too.
Second rule, you always put your ego aside. Shit, if some guy you know messes up something of yours, just let it slide. Do even fucking worry. Because more then likely, youll end up in some kind of fight, or you may lose a lot of money or your own body. Thats why when it comes to dealing with shit that might mess with you personally, a real guy just lets it go. You might need whatever the fuck is being thrown at ya, so just let go of your damn ego and move on. And trust me at times your pride and ego can piss any lady off.
Third, always and I mean always, treat everyone you meet with some kind of respect. All people need some respect; only those who dont have any class dont need any at all. When you see and old lady who needs some help, go there and give her a hand. You never know, you might get something out of it and you just get the good feeling of helping. Showing kindness, respect, and honor to other people gives ya good points in the long run. After all, you never know where those things you did in the past to help people might come back to help you in the long run.
Fourth, make sure youre a man of the faith. This rule falls under any form of being an African gentleman. I mean, if you dont got God and Jesus in your life, whats the point. The big man gave us life and his son gave us a chance to go into his kingdom. The least we can do is show them some props and let em know that we believe in em. But hey, no matter what your religion keep your faith in it. Now, Im not going to lie, Im not sure what I am, but I learn about all kinds of religion so that I kept in the loop. Its shows great style. And thats the next rule.
Fifth, always have style. You never know who might see you. It could be a stranger, your friends, your family, and your lover, shit it could be a little kid passing you bye. Show em how much style you got in you by doing something thats classy and a bit original. After all, everyone likes to be amazed.
And that last and final rule for being an African gentleman is this. Honor your family and those who came before ya. They help raised ya, they brought you into this world. More then likely your mother. The people who came before you fought for your rights that you have now. Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. And all the other great people who fought to give us our rights and freedoms. Besides, without showing respect to your past and your family you aint got nothing.
Well. Thats about it for being a gentleman in our time. Aside from some nice ass clothing. A good hairstyle, a J. O. B. A place over your head and money in your pocket, and the love of others thats all you need for being a gentleman. So for all you guys out there with some inner style. Peace out and Ill check you next time. Later!
